I am also an artist and musician with particular interest in incorporating the use of art and music into supportive and cognitive-behavioral interventions known to be effective at reducing anxiety and depression. Relaxation techniques, a strong belief in the power of the individual and the family to make desired changes in their lives, and developing a personal awareness of one’s own actions and their relationships with others and the world around them are strong components of my work with clients and their families.
I attained my undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University in Psychology and Religion. I completed my Master’s and Doctoral training at the University of North Texas and a pre-doctoral internship at the Medical University of South Carolina. After working for three years at a community mental health center, I began my own independent practice which has grown into the current Center for Psychological Development. With over 16 years of experience as psychologist and extensive training in play therapy, I am comfortable working with a broad spectrum of clients presenting with a variety of problems, including those associated with trauma and loss, academic difficulties, anxiety, and depression. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach, tailored to each client.
